according to wikipedia: On July 2, Curaçao celebrates that the Island Council met for the first time on that day in 1951. On July 2, 1984 , this day was named "Dia di Bandera" ("Day of the Flag").

the day is dedicated to official ceremonies in the morning on Brionplein in Otrobanda and in Parke Himno i Bandera (Park of the National Anthem and the Flag) in Barber on the western part of the island of Curacao. 

this is how we spend dia di bandera this year. a little roadtrip to banda bou, with various stops and a traditional local lunch.
